There is a common idea in our society that dogs and cats are committed to being sworn domestic enemies. There are innumerable cartoons, comics and videos that perpetuate this notion of dogs and cats that constantly fight for the territory inside the house and compete for the attention and affection of their owners. We are bombarded by the image of a dog chasing a cat around the house and barking fiercely. On the other hand, we are often given the image of a cat that teases the family dog and pulls its claws to take the dog right where it hurts: the nose. These images and ideas will continue to float in the minds of the public and will continue to be a source of comedy for many laughs. However, at some point we must ask how true they are. After all, these animals are some of our best friends.
