Deaf Man Rescues Deaf Puppy And Teaches Him Sign Language

"Dogs are extremely resistant creatures, especially puppies. Many of them experience cruelty or difficulty, but even so, they come out with love and loyalty. A small black lab named Emerson was a puppy that had a very difficult start in life. With only six weeks to live, Emerson was rescued from a Florida shelter and suffered attacks and fought an extremely deadly infection known as canine parvovirus. NFR Maine, the foster rescue in North Monmouth, Maine, often moves dogs from Florida to Maine, where they are easier to adopt. Shortly after Emerson's arrival in Maine, it became clear that his hearing was severely affected. Either it was born that way or it was done that way because of its health problems, but it doesn't prevent it from doing all the typical things of puppies. Thanks to NFR Maine and his adoptive family, Emerson had a second chance at life. The sturdy puppy went ahead and was put up for adoption when he was ready. The new rescue has had a unique home for this small one. Just a few weeks after being published for adoption, a man named Nick Abbott found the photo and information about the adorable puppy on Facebook. The thirty-one-year-old Maine knew that this could be the dog for him. They shared a common connection: Nick was also deaf. When the rescue discovered this, they processed Nick's request in a single day. Soon, Nick met Emerson in person, and the two formed an instant connection. Nick's mother, Richelle, told GMA that she knew her son and Emerson were "made for each other". Their common disability is not even a remote problem for this couple. Nick taught Emerson's sign language for typical commands like sitting, lying down and coming. A funny thing he taught Emerson is to bark when Nick sticks his earlobe. These two will have lots of fun and many adventures together.
